Why I Fear an Obama Presidency

Normally, the time after an election should be a time to come together as a nation and work on common goals. But I cannot celebrate the election of a radical leftist to the Presidency of the United States. I understand the importance of the symbolism of the first African-American to be elected President. I'd be celebrating this achievement too, if I believed that Barack Obama truly respected the principles upon which this nation was founded.

Despite his soaring rhetoric, I believe that Barack Obama does not respect the Constitution of the United States; he will weaken our national security; he will not stand by our allies; his economic policies will prove to be disastrous; he does not respect the right to life or the right to free speech.

I fear that one of his first moves will be to try to silence his enemies by pressing for the passage of the so called "Fairness Doctrine" despite the fact that he claimed to oppose it during his campaign.

Below is a list of things I'm concerned about. Please come back, because I'll be updating the list with more evidence of Obama's anti-Democratic tendencies:

Democrat Senator and Obama Ally Chuck Schumer compares regulating conservative opinion on talk radio to regulating pornography.

It is the duty of journalists to report critical information that the public needs to know about their government, but the vast majority of media outlets are strongly biased in favor of Obama.

Newsweek Editor, Evan Thomas, now admits that there is a 'slightly creepy cult of personality' surrounding Obama. Why didn't he talk about this before the election?

Rahm Emanuel will be Obama's Chief of Staff. During the Clinton Administration, his colleagues reported that Emanuel became so enraged over opposition to the Clinton Administration that he grabbed a steak knife, stood up and began reciting a list of names, plunging the knife into the table and shouting "Dead! Dead! Dead!' after each one.

Listen to Obama call for a civilian national security force that is just as powerful as the military: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2yGzHfy7s

An Obama donor ordered a "Big Brother" probe of "Joe the Plumber" after he asked Barack Obama a tough question.

In his first press conference, he would not answer a question from Fox News.

Vladmir Putin, the Prime Minister of Russia, and his puppet President Dmitry Medvedev, is pursuing an aggressive foreign policy and perceives Obama as weak.

We prayed and prayed for a Pro-Life President to be elected. Did God answer our prayers? Of course He did, but not the way we would like it answered. Maybe we would have been too proud if McCain won and beat our breasts on how holy we are. We're not! We're sinners and I think the sins of this nation has caused Almighty God to answer our prayers with a chastisement. Then we will see a Pro-Life nation! I see a lot of suffering in the next few years; maybe it's a purification for the many who turned their backs on the unborn, but more likely, as Our Lady said in one of her apparitions, that the greatest sin of today is atheism, the direct denial of God! May God have mercy on us! May the Divine Mercy be in our souls!

Obama will attempt to silence pro-lifers by using the so-called Freedom of Choice Act which would wipe out every gain pro-lifers made legislatively. Any Catholic who voted for this evil man is in danger of losing their salvation and would be equally responsible for any innonent babies dying as a result of such action.

Obama is guilty of many failings - he is a politician for example - though his opponent is also a politician. Fact is this election required a choice of the best available candidate for a complex job. Looking from abroad (UK), it is depressing that you base your attitude to Obama on this and related, very narrow issues, however important to you. In the scheme of things, I would expect a Catholic blog to be conscious of other moral questions which matter a lot on this side of the Atlantic, such as the use of torture and the status of Guantanamo bay, or alternatively global warming and the misuse of natural resources that are not renewable. It was often said the Church thinks in Centuries and not years. Well, that is not evident in this blog.

Politics, politics, politics. Why do we put all our focus on politics? If we could convert the nation, we wouldn't have to worry about Roe v Wade. That's what we should be focusing on.

It's not an either or proposition. You can be politically aware and active and also do other things. The Church teaches us that it is our duty to vote and to use our vote to advance the cause of life. It's not virtuous to be uninformed and uninvolved about politics.

Fighting abortion and euthanasia is not simply a personal interest of mine. I'm responding to the greatest threat to human rights in our time. The terrorists at Guantanamo Bay are treated better than they deserve. I am not convinced that global warming is such a grave threat to humanity as liberals tell us. More and more scientists are questioning the dire predictions. If we continue to kill unborn children at the rate of 1.2 million each year in the U.S. and 200,000 each year in the U.K. I think this poses a far greater threat to civilization.
